Veerapan’s widow may be freed
Muthulakshmi, the widow of slain forest bandit Veerappan, was acquitted by Chamarajanagar district sessions judge A.C. Vidyadhar in the Rangaswamyvadi case. After nearly three years behind bars, Veerappan’s widow is likely to be released from Bengaluru Central Jail on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters outside court, a cheerful Muthulakshmi said: “Justice has prevailed. I had done nothing wrong and was not involved in any of the crimes my husband committed. I was arrested only because I am Veerappan’s wife. Now my only wish is to take care of my children.”
To a query, Muthulakshmi said she was not thinking of building a political career.
