Verdict on rape by minor soon
The juvenile (now an adult) who allegedly was the most “brutal” of the six accused in last year’s December 16 gangrape case in Delhi was convicted of robbery by the Juvenile Justice Board on Thursday.
The board will pronounce on July 25 its verdict on whether the accused, who was a minor in December and turned 18 last month, is guilty of rape and murder, among other charges.
On Thursday, the board held him guilty of robbing a carpenter identified as Ramadhar on the day of the gangrape.
The carpenter had boarded the private bus some time before the 23-year-old para-medical student and her friend got into the vehicle.
The carpenter was allegedly robbed and thrown out of the bus.
The girl was then brutalised and raped by the gang of six, the police had claimed.
