Vice Admiral Joshi to take over as Western Naval Command chief
Vice Admiral D.K. Joshi, the present Chief of the integrated staff committee, would now take over as the commander-in chief of the Mumbai-based Western Naval Command.
"Vice Admiral Joshi would take over the charge of Western Naval Command from incumbent Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin who would attain superannuation on April 30," Navy officers said here on Saturday.
Joshi took over as the chief of integrated staff committee, headquartered at South Block here, on December 31 2010.
Earlier he headed the Port Blair-based tri-service formation, Andaman and Nicobar Command. Joshi has also commanded the aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
Officials said Joshi would be in line to be appointed as the next Navy chief after the retirement of present chief Admiral Nirmal Verma.
