Video clip of Sangma as NCP ‘leader’ aired at party function
A video clip showing former Lok Sabha Speaker and President hopeful P.A. Sangma exhorting people to join NCP was on Thursday aired at the party's Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress rally in Osmanabad in Maharashtra.
Sangma quit NCP after the Sharad Pawar-led party had announced its support for UPA Presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee, and is contesting the July 19 Presidential election as a BJP-backed candidate.
When asked about the clip showing Sangma appealing to women and youth to join Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress, party MP Supriya Sule said, "We will delete the clip if the NCP chose to dismiss him from the party. The clip was old and unedited. "He (Sangma) was given a show cause notice by the party after he refused to withdraw his nomination. He is a senior leader and I cannot judge what he is doing is right or wrong." Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress is dedicated women's wing of NCP under Sule, daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Suspended NCP MP Padamsinh Patil, who is the prime accused in a 2006 double murder case, also attended the rally.
