Video of Thrissur kids in a Ferrari goes viral
A YouTube video, in which two unidentified kids are seen driving a Ferrari F430 Scuderia (CH 04K 8545) on the streets of Shoba City in Thrissur district, has gone viral and triggered a major controversy.
The video uploaded on April 10 has been watched by over 349,929 people in two days clearly shows two young boys having a whale of a time driving a Ferrari without seatbelts, filmed by a woman, encouraging the underage driving stunt. Some international websites criticised the parents for allowing the kids drive the Italian Ferrari. Mark Pereira of Autoblog Canada severely criticised the parents saying that nobody could have helped the children if this dangerous joyride had gone seriously wrong. “A video of this seriously ‘good parenting’ was posted on YouTube, where it is getting a lot of eyeballs,” he says in his article. The video shows the youngsters take the high-horsepower exotic car for several laps on a public road, revving it up to show off to their friends. It is yet unknown who shot the video, although some clues can be ascertained at the end of the clip when the kid driver returns the car’s keys to an adult.
The video has no identity of the kids, but shows a woman filming the performance on a mobile phone.
The 430 Scuderia (scuderia meaning “stable of horses”) was unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. Noah Joseph, a veteran automotive journalist working with Autoblog.com and The New York Times asks: “Are the kids the luckiest in the world?” He says the people who filmed the kid’s performance were most irresponsible. It seems the adult who filmed this shocking video simply handed over the keys of a Ferrari F430 Scuderia and let the “Ferrari Kidz” loose.
