Vikhe-Patil asks Thane Congressmen to sink differences

Senior Congress leader and party in charge of Thane district Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Saturday asked local activists and office-bearers to sink differences and work for the party's success in the coming civic polls.

He was in Thane to co-ordinate with party activities for the municipal corporation elections slated for early 2012.

In their meeting with Vikhe-Patil, Congressmen discussed the problems being faced by the Thane unit. The activists mainly complained about loyal Congressmen being ignored by party bosses, sources said.

They also spoke about growing influence of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, a Congress ally in Maharashtra and at the Centre, in this district adjoining Mumbai, they said.

After giving a patient hearing to the complaints, Vikhe-Patil advised the partymen to avoid groupism and put up a united face.

"I do not want any one to be identified as of this group or that group. One should realise that he belongs to the party and work for the benefit of the party," he said.
