Vilas Patil sworn in as new Maharashtra CIC
Maharashtra government on Thursday appointed Vilas Bhagwat Patil as the new chief information commissioner (CIC) of the state.
Patil, who was information commissioner in Nagpur earlier, was sworn in as the state CIC by governor K. Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan here. Patil's appointment will be for a term of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, a Raj Bhavan statement issued here said.
Prior to this, Patil has also served as secretary, Maharashtra State Legislature. Chief minister Ashok Chavan, leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse, Lokayukta Justice (retd.) P.B. Gaikwad, information commissioners among others were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
