Village head’s son prime CBI suspect

Was DSP Zia-ul Haq killed by a bullet fired from the firearm of the slain village head’s son Yogendra, aka, Babloo? The CBI, according to sources, has found certain leads that make Yogendra a prime suspect in the murder of the DSP.
Yogendra has been missing since the day of the incident on March 2 and was nowhere to be seen at the cremation of his father, Nanhe Yadav, and uncle, Suresh Yadav, on the following day. Eyewitnesses have told the CBI officials that in the violence that followed the village head’s murder, Suresh Yadav was also shot dead, allegedly in police firing.
An enraged Yogendra, thereafter, showered expletives at the police team and challenged the DSP Zia-ul-Haq. Yogendra and his accomplices surrounded the DSP and blamed him for the murder of his uncle.
“We have reasons to believe that Yogendra and his team then beat up the DSP and shot him dead,” said a CBI official.
CBI teams are now searching for Yogendra and teams have been sent to Allahabad and Banda. Yogendra’s mobile has been put on surveillance and the call details of all the family members of the slain village pradhan are also being scanned.
“We have found some clues from the calls made by family members, two days after the March 2 incident and we hope to make a breakthrough very soon,” the official said.
The service revolver of the DSP is also missing after the incident and there is a possibility that Yogendra and his men may have snatched the DSP’s service revolver during the scuffle and used it to shoot him. The CBI, on Thursday, further asked all those possessing licensed weapons in Walipur village to deposit the same with the local police. Meanwhile, the supposed ‘attack’ on the CBI team on Tuesday night, has been found to be a ‘false’ alarm. The miscreant who pelted stones on the CBI vehicle was taken into custody on Wednesday night and after sustained interrogation, he was found to be mentally unstable. He was let off later in the night.
