Visitors throng Matoshree
Film, business and political personalities on Thursday made a beeline to Matoshree to inquire about the health of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who has been critical since Wednesday night. However, none of them, including Amitabh Bachchan and chief minister Prithviraj Chavan were allowed to see Mr Thackeray.
All the visitors met his son Uddhav, who was on the ground floor of Matoshree, while Mr Thackeray was being “treated” on the second floor.
Apart from Mr Bachchan, who visited the Thackerays on Wednesday night, actor Salman Khan with father Salim and brother Arbaaz, and Shah Rukh Khan called on the family on Thursday.
Actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, industrialists Rahul Bajaj and Venugopal Dhoot, Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari, Leader of the Opposition in the legislative council Vinod Tawde were prominent among those who visited the Thackerays. Mr Bajaj said, “Don’t believe these rumours that he is no more. I went to Matoshree and he is alive. We have spoken to the doctors also.”
Incidentally, BJP leader Gopinath Munde claimed that he had even seen Mr Thackeray and that his health was improving.
NCP president and Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar also visited Matoshree in the afternoon.
