The party general secretary said the state unit of the party was strong and it should move forward keeping aside all differences.

Being one of the strongest organisations, the CPI(M) state unit also had the responsibility to help the party organisation at the national level, he added.

Replying to the discussions on the organizational report, Pinarayi VIjayan said that the party required V.S. Achuthanandan and that’s why the party had asked him to rectify his mistakes.

The conference is also learnt to have removed certain portions from the report which were highly criticial of Achuthanadan.

The politburo intervened in the matter following Achuthanandan’s complaint against the organisational report.

Party sources said the central leadership was of the view that since a majority of the charges leveled against Achuthanandan had already been discussed and even disciplinary action initiated against him, there was no need to rake up these issues all over again.

The central leadership, they say, was also upset over the language used in the report.
Moreover, the report was not appropriate and it was in serious violation of the guidelines issued by the central leadership regarding the conduct of the conferences at various levels, the sources said.

Earlier in the day, the DYFI came in for severe criticism from a section of the delegates who said the youth organisation had become weak.

The agitations of the youth wing were more suited to TV cameras and had failed to rally the people behind them, they felt.

On Friday, the conference will elect the new state committee before it concludes with a red volunteer march and public meeting.

Achuthanandan was success as CM: CPI leader

For a change, the most criticised leader of CPI(M), V.S. Achuthanandan, was praised by the CPI at their state conference. The comment was made by the CPI leaders while announcing their duly passed resolutions to the press on Thursday. The state executive member of the CPI, Binoy Viswam, said, “As a team leader, V. S. Achuthanadan observed all manners of the LDF, to his colleagues and led ministry with esteem and was a success as a chief minister.”

When asked Binoy Viswam about the comments made by the CPI senior leader, K. E. Ismail, and he replied that the decisions of the party are announced by the state secretary, C. K. Chandrappan. “He is the final spokesperson on any issue. There are no party members in the CPI who betray the party,” said Viswam.

The political parties who secured four percent votes left the front lead to the failure of continuation of the left ministry.

The state conference had discussed this issue.

The LDF also failed to take the achievements of the government to the grass root level.

The CPI (M) had violated the LDF manners in the Ernad and Ponnani constituencies.

This will be discussed in the forthcoming LDF meeting after the ongoing state conferences.

The state conference passed two resolutions. One was to support the forthcoming national strike called by the joint trade union on February 28, and the other is to support the strikes of the nursing staff throughout the country.

The leaders also commented that the UDF government is not taking any strong measures against the hospital managements who deny the nursing staff the minimum wages announced by the
government.
