Why did spy go to Sunderbani?
The Central intelligence agencies are trying to find out why Indian diplomat Madhuri Gupta, arrested for counter-espionage, stopped near Malpur in Sunderbani, located on the Jammu-Poonch highway during her visit to Rajouri on March 30.
According to sources in the agencies, Ms. Gupta had visited the residence of a doctor couple at the Sunderbani residence for a day on Mar 29, after coming from Pakistan via Wagah border in a Toyota vehicle registered in Pakistan. Sources further revealed that Ms Gupta met several of her friends on March 30 also.
“There are reports that on March 30 she went to Malpur in Sunderbani and reportedly stayed there for at least two hours on the highway. The area is close to the Chicken’s Neck, a narrow strip of Pakistani territory that extends into Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The reasons of her stay for such a long time at that particular place needs to be examined,” sources said.
Ms Gupta reportedly stopped her vehicle at 1.15 pm at Malpur and also had her lunch there
