Will oppose FDI in retail sector, says Akhilesh Yadav
Holding that FDI in retail will harm farmers and small traders, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said any move facilitating entry of multi-national firms in the sector would be opposed.
After meeting a delegation of Akhil Bhartiya Udyog Vyapaar Mandal here, Akhilesh said it will be the farmers and small traders who will end up being cheated if any such move is allowed, SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.
Acknowledging the support of traders played a crucial role in SP's victory in the Assembly elections, Akhilesh assured the delegation that any exploitation of businessmen will be strongly dealt with.
Blaming the previous BSP government for the acute power crisis in the state, he said no major power plant was installed during the Mayawati regime.
Efforts would be made to achieve a target of 10 per cent growth rate by the end of 12th Five Year Plan, the chief minister assured.
