Woman killed in tower fire
A woman was burnt to death and another injured as a fire broke out Sunday on the 15th floor of a residential tower in Mumbai’s suburban Ghatkopar area, fire brigade officials here said. The victims are yet to be identified, the officials said.
“The fire broke out around 5 pm and engulfed the top floor of Presidential Tower, located on the LBS Marg in Ghatkopar,” said a fire brigade official. Eight fire engines, four water tankers and an ambulance have been rushed to the spot. “The cause of the fire is not yet ascertained and so far there are no casualties,” said the official, adding that efforts were on to control the blaze.

9-day CBI custody for Daimary

The chairman of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, Ranjan Daimary, was remanded to nine days CBI custody in connection with October 30, 2008 serial blasts in Assam by a local court in Guwahati on Sunday.
The CBI took over the investigation of nine serial bomb blasts of Assam on December 19, 2008. A special investigation team comprising of 23 CBI officials was formed to investigate the cases.
The agency also filed chargsheet in the court of special judicial magistrate, Guwahati, against 19 accused persons.
