Woman lawyer rescues former RAW official
A woman lawyer came to the rescue of former RAW official Nisha Priya Bhatia after the ex-official, frustrated at adjournments in various courts, tried to disrobe in the Delhi high court, and pleaded for her release on the ground that she had school-going children. The court then decided to hear the matter in-camera.
But Ms Bhatia repeated her act during the in-camera proceedings as well. Then Justice Ajit Bharihoke decided she needed a mental check up and remarked, “I will send her to jail. She has also created a lot of problems in the court of the ACMM, I think she is a mentally-deranged woman.”
The court, however, said, “She shall be free to go back if she is not suffering from a mental disorder, which necessitates her detention in a hospital for psychiatric treatment with a view to ensure her safety and for the protection of others.”
When she was being taken away from court to the IHBAS, Ms Bhatia broke down, saying, “Please help me. I have got three school-going children.” Ms Bhatia, who once headed the RAW training cell, had also filed a petition against the lower court judges.
