Woman rams bmw into auto, 3 hurt
A 32-year-old woman was on Thursday arrested for ramming her BMW into an autorickshaw and injuring three under the influence of alcohol in Mankhurd in the early hours of Thursday.
Aarti Shetty was behind the wheels, along with two other women, driving towards Navi Mumbai. Ms Shetty was allegedly driving at a very high speed when she lost control of the vehicle and rammed into an autorickshaw travelling alongside, sending it careening sideways.
Even after hitting the auto, she did not stop the car and tried to flee the scene, only to hit a dumper parked alongside the street. The impact finally made the car stop.
“Doctors have confirmed inebriation and Aarti has been charged for causing injury due to rash and negligent driving as well as for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was granted bail on Thursday afternoon,” said Shankarsingh Rajput, senior police inspector, Mankhurd police station.
The three women, who were visibly inebriated, were taken to the Rajawadi Hospital for a medical check-up and subsequently to the police station.
