Woman raped at knifepoint

A criminal facing murder charges and released two days back on bail from jail allegedly raped a 25-year-old woman at knifepoint in Bhande plot area in eastern part of the city, police said today.

Notorious criminal Bunty Ramdas Thaware (27) had harassed the victim previously and she had alreday lodged a complaint against him with the police, they said.

Yesterday, when her husband had gone for night shift to a MIDC factory, Bunty barged into her hutment and sexually abused the victim after threatening her on knife point.

Bunty was arrested and charged with several sections of IPC, police added.
