Woman trapped inside house with militants in J-K

A woman is trapped inside a house with militants in Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said here today.

Security forces launched a search-cum-cordon operation in Maidanpora village in Lolab, 120 kms from here, following information about presence of three to four foreign militants, the officials said.

They said while others in the house managed to come out, the woman is still inside the house where the ultras are believed to be hiding.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir S.M. Sahai, however, said there is no indication that she has been taken hostage by the militants.

There has been no exchange of firing between the two sides and security forces are trying to ensure that all civilians are out of the house before launching an offensive.
