Women dismantle liquor vend, smash liquor bottles

Irate women, sick of their alcoholic husbands, along with male residents of the village, dismantled a liquor vend, smashed bottles of liquor and when the liquor vend operator resisted, thrashed him, police said.

The incident occurred at Rohrai village, 12km from here, on Sunday.

The agitating women complained that when their repeated requests for removal of the liquor vend to the authorities concerned went unheeded, they had to resort to direct action.

Meanwhile, on a complaint filed by vend operator Abhay Singh Yadav, police registered a case of rioting, causing hurt, wrongful restraint, mischief causing damage and criminal intimidation against Roshni Devi, Kanta Devi, Kalu, Rajesh and others, all residents of Rohrai village.
