Women panel must act on leaders’ remarks: Gogoi

Assam CM Tarun Gogoi here on Monday said that Assam Women Commission should take cognisance to the derogatory remarks of political leaders against the women IPS officers.

Asserting that remark of a few senior Congress leaders against IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar in the local media was a disrespect to the whole women community, Mr Gogoi said, “I condemned such act of my party leaders. I hope Women Commission will also take note of it.” Referring to Ms Parashar, who is posted as SP Jorhat also the home district of the chief minister, former MP and secretary of Assam Congress Kirip Cheliha had said, “Unusual proximity of Jorhat SP Sanjukta Parashar with chief minister is a matter of grave concern.”
