Women on top in UPSC again
For the second straight year, women claimed the two top positions in UPSC examination, result of which was declared on Friday.
Shena Aggarwal, an MBBS from AIIMS, topped, while Rukmani Riar, a master of arts from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, secured the second rank. Prince Dhawan, an M.Tech from IIT Delhi, was third.
As many as 4,72,290 candidates applied for and 2,43,003 took the civil services prelims on June 12.
The department of personnel and training said 11,984 of these qualified for the mains held during October-November and 2,417 were selected for the personality test held during March-April 2012.
In all, 910 candidates made the final cut.
