Yechury: Govt take on CVC inexplicable
The CPI(M) on Thursday said it was “inexplicable” as to how the government was saying it was not aware of the charges against chief vigilance commissioner P.J. Thomas while appointing him to the post. “It is inexplicable. We can’t really understand how the government is saying that they were not aware of certain matters,” CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said here.
Mr Yechury was reacting to reports claiming that the affidavit filed by attorney-general G. E. Vahanvati in the Supreme Court said that the high-powered selection committee was not aware of the charges in the Palmolein export case pending against Thomas in Kerala while appointing him to the post.
“Everybody involved in the matter should come clean,” he said.
