Yeddy moves Hegde, HC against report
Hours before Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N. Santosh Hegde was scheduled to demit office, and in a move that smacked of attempts to stall prosecution, outgoing chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Tuesday filed a petition before him seeking reconsideration of his report indicting him in the illegal mining.
In addition, the outgoing chief minister also approached the high court on Tuesday challenging the report of Lokayukta where he was indicted under the Provisions of Corruption Act. Mr Yeddyurappa in the petition before the high court states that he is gravely aggrieved by his indictment in the report of the Lokayukta. “The report suffers from several legal infirmities and is unsustainable on several grounds,” he states. In his plea , he asks that the ombudsman reconsider his recommendation for prosecuting him under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
