Yeddy: No comment on ‘dirty politics’
With a wafer-thin majority in the Legislative Assembly, will chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa be able to pursue his avowed agenda of development?
On a day when the Karnataka high court prolonged uncertainty by handing a split verdict of the crucial issue of disqualification of 11 rebel BJP legislators, Mr Yeddyurappa said he would chant the mantra of development and refrain from commenting on dirty politics of Opposition parties. He told mediapersons in Mysore that henceforth
he would only comment on the government’s plans and achievements and also invited the Opposition to cooperate with him. The leader also spoke of significant milestones such as mega-buck projects that came the state’s way during the Global Investors Meet (GIM) and plans for generation of 15,000 MW power in future.
Sources, however, said the chief minister would find it tough to push ahead with developmental schemes across the state as every legislator would demand more projects and funds for his or her respective constituency. He would also find it tough to take decisions inimical to any of these legislators as their support would matter till the court decides on the petitions filed by 11 dissident and five Independent legislators.
The other important issue during the political crisis would be the development of constituencies represented by these 16 legislators. Will they suffer because of the rebellion of their representatives?
