Yeddyurappa issue: BJP core team to meet today
A meeting of BJP core committee will be held on Thursday evening to discuss the allegations of corruption against Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, party President Nitin Gadkari said here on Thursday.
We will discuss the matter and verify it," Mr Gadkari told reporters at the state BJP headquarters here. Earlier on Thursday, Mr Yeddyurappa, mired in charges of corruption and nepotism, dismissed reports that Mr Gadkari and the RSS were "unhappy" with him.
"The JD-S, under the leadership of Congress in Delhi, repeatedly tried to destabilise the BJP-led Karnataka government," Mr Gadkari alleged. Mr Yeddyurappa has come under attack from the Opposition that is seeking his ouster over alleged land scams and has questioned the allotment of land to a firm, in which his two sons are partners.
Meanwhile, Mr Gadkari took on Congress and demanded a probe into the Commonwealth Games and Raja's spectrum scams. On allegations that he owned a flat in the controversial Adarsh Housing Society, Mr Gadkari asserted, "I am not directly or indirectly connected with it. Let an enquiry take place."
