You are not old enough for live-in relationship: Court tells minor girl
A love story of two school-going minors on Friday did not get the legal sanction as the Delhi High Court shot down the plea of the girl to live with her juvenile lover and gave her custody to her parents.
Justice Mukta Gupta, after an in-camera hearing, dismissed the plea of the girl that she wanted to live with the boy as she was being "tortured" by the parents after being suspended from the school in November last year.
The girl, a class-IX student of Paschim Vihar-based private school, had moved the court to seek its approval to remain with her boy friend, a class-XI student from the same institution.
The boy's parents, present in the court, expressed their desire to take the custody of the girl. The plea was also shot down by Justice Gupta.
Later, the court handed over the girl's custody to her parents and directed them not to ill-treat her considering her forthcoming annual examination in March this year. It then fixed the case for further hearing on March 29.
The minor girl filed the petition through an NGO and claimed she and her friend were suspended by their school management after they were found talking to each other on November 1 last year. Seeking protection, the girl said she was depressed after being beaten mercilessly by her parents who also drove her out of the home. In the petition, she also sought quashing of an FIR lodged by her parents against the boy and a direction to the school to allow them to complete their studies.
