Youth’s body found, J&K town erupts
Kreeri, a township in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, erupted on Tuesday when the locals found the body of a local youth, who was missing after his reported arrest by the police more than two weeks ago, buried at an isolated place in a neighbourhood area.
Reports said that a group of villagers saw the body having been partly uncovered as the area was inundated following heavy rains over the past couple of days. With the word spreading, hundreds of people from neighbouring villages including the parents and other relatives and neighbours of the missing youth rushed to the spot and found that the body was that of 19-year-old student Syed Farakh Bashir Bukhari.
Bukhari, as two witnessed have deposed before a district magistrate, was bundled into a police vehicle during a pro-freedom demonstration at Churoo outside the town of Sopore on July 28.
Several other protesters were also arrested by the police but all of them have either been released or were later traced being lodged in different police stations and detention centres.
Police authorities had, however, denied Bukhari’s arrest.
