Youth cong wants rahul as pm
Delegates at the Youth Congress conclave appear to have no doubt that the time has come for Mr Rahul Gandhi to take the bigger responsibilities, including that of the post of PM. “Rahulji could have become a minister but he wanted to
work for the party. A youth does more work than those who are 60- or 70-plus in age. There is no doubt that the time has come for Rahulji to become the Prime Minister,” said Mohammad Arif Pasha, a Youth Congress leader from Bengaluru Rural constituency.
The delegates felt Mr Gandhi has already strengthened the party and should move into the government to fulfil the unfinished dreams of his father Rajiv Gandhi. “The process to fulfil the dreams of Rajivji is still going on. Rahulji has shown that he has special concerns for the poor people,” said Afsal Chockli, a Youth Congress delegate from Calicut.
He will complete the dreams of Rajivji when he becomes the Prime Minister,” said Afsal Chockli, another Youth Congress delegate from Calicut.
On the second day it was clear among the 7000 odd Youth Congress delegates at the Buniyadd conclave who they wanted to listen to. Despite senior Youth Congress leaders pleaded for maintaining order, the delegates gave enough hints to Nandan Nilekani, environmentalist Sunita Narayan and others that they were impatient to hear their favourite leader. Even during the speech of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi during the concluding session, the delegates raised slogans for Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
