Youth set on fire by friend
A youth was allegedly set on fire by his friend inside a private company premises here today, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha said Shivnath Singh, whose father was an ex-employee of Tata Tinplate Company of India Limited, was demanding a job in TCIL and forcibly entered the company's premises with a friend threatening self immolation.
Singh's friend, who was in intoxicated condition, poured kerosene on him and allegedly set him on fire, the SSP said.
Singh suffered serious burn injuries and was admitted in the Burn unit of the Tata Main Hospital while his friend has been arrested, Jha said.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Raghuvar Das claimed that Shivnath Singh was a BJP activist and he attempted self-immolation in support of his demand for employment in the company in lieu of his father's service.
