Youth should be given more prominence: Rahul Gandhi
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday said there should be more participation of the youth in the nation's political and electoral scenario.
Addressing the national executive of Youth Congress here, Mr Gandhi, who arrived from New Delhi, said the Congress party's youth wing should be able to bring in more young citizens to enter politics.
Youth Congress workers should work with common people and conduct padayatras frequently which would enable them to get the pulse of the people, the Congress leader said.
About 60 delegates, including youth Congress Presidents from all states, participated in the three-day meeting which concluded on Friday.
Mr Gandhi listened to the reporting of activities of each Youth Congress state committee, presented by the respective state Presidents, before addressing the gathering.
After attending the state committee of Kerala Students Union and Youth Congress, Mr Gandhi said those eligible would be given opportunities during the state assembly elections due in May.
The Congress leader later left for New Delhi.
