YSR son set to float own party
Rebel leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who has quit the Congress, is all set to launch his own political outfit under the name of his late father, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
However, he may not do so in a hurry. According to his close aides, Mr Jagan is ready for a long haul and will wait for the right opportunity to strike.
It is believed that Jagan will contest for the Pulivendula seat in the ensuing Assembly bypoll, and Ms Vijayalakshmi will try to enter the Lok Sabha from the Kadapa seat vacated by Jagan.
By the time of the bypolls, which have to be held in the next six months, Jagan believes that the state will witness the “non-performance” of chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, disillusionment among the people on account of the government cutting down on welfare schemes and the Telangana statehood issue.
“We will strike at the right time,” a close associate of Mr Jagan said.
“In fact, the Jagan battle will continue up to the 2014 elections. By then the Congress government will be discredited, people have no confidence in the Telugu Desam either,” Jagan’s associate said. “We expect large support for us, we will watch these developments and tread accordingly.”
