Zardari not running away, says top aide
The Presidency on Monday officially declared that Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will not be running for a second term when he completes his five-year tenure in September. “President Zardari will not contest elections for a second term,” presidential spokesman Farhatull-ah Babar said.
Senator Babar said the President will not resign from office till the completion of his term. He added that the President has gone to Dubai from where he will proceed to London on a “private visit”. Sen. Babar refuted rumours that the President would stay in London for the remainder of his tenure and said Mr Zardari would return to Pakistan at all costs. Sen. Babar said the government should publish the report of the Abbottabad Commi-ssion regarding the killing of Osama bin Laden and that the report should also be presented in Parliament for debate.
