10 pro-Taliban militants killed in northwest Pak
Air strikes by helicopter gunships on Saturday killed 10 pro-Taliban militants in the restive Orakzai tribal region of northwest Pakistan, a day after six soldiers, including an officer, died in a bomb attack.
The bombardment by the helicopters in Khadezai Ali area of Orakzai Agency also injured eight rebels and destroyed three hideouts, security sources said.
Security forces seized a cache of arms and explosives during a search operation in nearby Thall town of Hangu district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, the sources said.
Six soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, were killed and two more injured when militants targeted the vehicle they were travelling in with a roadside bomb in Yakh Kandao area of Orakzai Agency yesterday. Additional troops were sent to the area to conduct a search operation following the attack.
