10-year-old girl survives Venezuela plane crash
A 10-year-old girl has survived a plane crash in western Venezuela that killed the five other people on board, apparently her family members.
Amilcar Mendes, the civil protection director in western Cojedes state, says the small, PN68 plane crashed on the edge of a farm in the municipality of Lima Blanco.
Mendes says two men and three women on board died, while the girl survived without injuries. The six were apparently from the same family.
The plane apparently took off from the Caribbean island of Margarita en route to an airport in Valles de Tuy, about 20 miles (30 kilometers) southeast of Caracas. The cause of the accident has still not been determined.
