15 tonnes of methamphetamine seized in Mexico
Around 15 tonnes of synthetic drug methamphetamine have been seized from a ranch in Mexico, the army said.
The seizure took place in Tlajomulco city of Jalisco state, said 15th Military Zone commander Gen. Gilberto Hernandez Andreu.
Soldiers also found 4,575 litres of chemicals, 2,400 kg of caustic soda, 20 kg of ammonia and five kg of crystal methamphetamine.
A total of 15 metal reactors, 12 tanks of gas, nine oxygen tanks and nine thermostats used to make the synthetic drugs were also found.
The chemicals found at the site were sufficient to produce drugs with a street value of approximately $32 million, officials said.
