5 kids living in caves dug by dad since birth freed
Five children who had lived since birth in caves dug by their father and who had no contact with the outside world were rescued by Colombian authorities, a media report said. The youngsters, the eldest being 11 years old and the smallest eight months, were wearing plastic and recycled clothes on May 14 when they were taken from the caves, located near the municipality of Turmeque in the northeastern province of Boyaca.
“Since they had no contact with the outside world, transporting them and washing them wasn’t easy. When we turned on the television, the ran away,” Alirio Garzon, a volunteer with the civil-defence office said.

Man executed for stabbing 29 school kids
Beijing, May 30: A man who stabbed 29 children and three teachers in April in east China’s Jiangsu province was executed Sunday morning.
Xu Yuyuan, 47, was executed at 9.39 am by the intermediate people’s court of Taizhou City, Xinhua reported. He attacked the Zhongxin kindergarten in Taixing City on April 29. Four of the victims were severely injured.
Xu admitted his motive was to vent his rage against society after losing money in gambling and business, while suffering other setbacks in his personal life.
The Taizhou intermediate people’s court sentenced him to death May 15 for “intentional homicide” after a half-day open trial, which was attended by 300 people. —IANS
