Barack Obama tucked Britain's Cameron 'into bed'
British Prime Minister David Cameron on Tuesday disclosed that US President Barack Obama 'tucked him into bed' during a flight aboard Air Force One.
Speaking at an awards ceremony in his constituency Oxfordshire, Cameron said Obama offered the use of the presidential bed aboard the famous aircraft as the two world leaders flew back to Washington after a basketball match in Dayton, Ohio in the United States.
“On the way back, it was about 4 o’clock in the morning UK time, so he (Obama) said ‘David, why don’t you use my bed and put your feet up. So I duly did and Barack went to the back of the plane and explained to my private secretary and the team, ‘Don’t worry, the British Prime Minister is fine, I’ve just tucked him up in bed’," the Telegraph quoted Cameron as saying.
“I don’t think that’s happened before.”
The camaraderie between the two world leaders was widely covered by media both sides of the Atlantic.
It was the first time Obama had invited a foreign leader on his iconic Air Force One, and a White House aide said they two men spent the entire flight cloistered in Obama's mid-air office.
Cameron, at his first basketball game, sat courtside with Obama, who appeared to be explaining the rules of the game that he loves. The British leader said he saw some similarities to soccer, with the way players marked opponents and tried to score on the break.
Obama, meanwhile, joked he would ask Cameron to teach him cricket.
