Barack Obama uncle admits facts in drunken driving case
A drunken driving charge against President Barack Obama's uncle will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for a year.
Onyango Obama pleaded to what's known as sufficient facts at a hearing on Tuesday in Massachusetts. That means the 67-year-old doesn't plead guilty but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to convict him on a drunken driving charge.
His attorney says he's a productive member of society and wants to get back to his quiet existence. Onyango Obama is the half-brother of the president's late father.
He was arrested in August after a police officer said he made a rolling stop at a stop sign and nearly caused his cruiser to crash into Obama's sport utility vehicle. Obama, who is from Kenya, is appealing a deportation order.
