Sept. 11: A leading investigative journalist has claimed that French First Lady Carla Bruni is a “female Don Juan” who humiliated her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, by inviting three former lovers on holiday. A devastating portrait of Ms Bruni by a leading investigative journalist accuses the 42-year-old former supermodel of not changing her fast-living ways.

This is despite the fact that Elysee Palace spin-doctors tried to reinvent her as a “shy young woman”. In her book, Carla — A Secret Life, Besma Lahouri details Miss Bruni’s affairs with a long list of celebrity boyfriends, including English rock stars Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. A few weeks before their marriage in February 2008 she told a magazine that “monogamy bores me”.

Then, on their first trip to her £2-million Riviera villa, she invited a trio of former boyfriends. The book, published in France, said this happened despite the fact that the men had “fallen apart after being dumped by the Italian with the volcanic temperament”.

One was Arno Klarsfeld, a celebrity lawyer, who said that becoming First Lady had not changed Bruni at all. “She is a real tigress,” the Daily Mail quoted Klarsfeld as saying.
