China students sit for exam plugged with IV drips

A series of images of high school students writing an exam, plugged with IV drips has taken the Web by storm.

Story source 'CHImushroom' uploaded the photos that describe in vivid detail the crowded classroom, a supervising teacher and a scene straight out of nightmares.

A report even quoted a Chinese education official as saying the IV drips only contained vital amino acids.

“The state grants a 10-yuan subsidy for amino acids to each graduating senior that will participate in the gao kao (National College Entrance Exam). Any student that feels not well can go to the infirmary and take amino acids on the IV drip,” Mr. Xia said.

In a further bizarre explanation, Mr Xia said performance levels in the 'gao kao' had dropped because of 'sudden weather changes' in the city of Xiaogan.

He added that the IV drips were brought to class to help students save time between the exam venue and the infirmary.

Website 'Ministry of Tofu' describes the 'ago kao' exam as a series of tests students take in their last year of high school. The marks scored help them land dream colleges.
