China's richest women is worth $6 billion
A 48-year-old property developer in China with a fortune of 38 billion yuan ($6.12 billion) has topped this year's Hurun rich list for women.
Wu Yajun was followed by two other real estate developers - Chan Laiwa, 71, and Yang Huiyan, 31, according to the list published by the Hurun Research Institute Friday.
The combined wealth of all 50 women on the list amounted to 440.6 billion yuan, down by 7.7 per cent, compared to the previous year.
The fortunes declined due to the weak global economic climate and the nation's sluggish property market, the China Daily Saturday quoted the publisher as saying.
Wu's personal wealth decreased by 10 per cent from last year's 42 billion yuan.
According to a sub-list of the Hurun Report called the Global Self-made Rich Women List, 30 of the women made their own fortunes.
"Of the top 22 self-made rich women in the world, 11 are from China," said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher of the Hurun Report.
