Egypt detains NY passenger with guns

Airport officials in Cairo say the police have detained an American-Egyptian man who arrived on a flight from New York with several weapons in his luggage.
The officials say the man was taken into custody as he tried to pass through customs with a metal box containing two 9 mm handguns, 250 bullets, several swords, daggers and knives.
They say customs officials had been alerted after the weapons were discovered when the box was examined upon arrival on Wednesday on an Egypt Air flight from New York’s JFK International Airport in Cairo.
A police official confirmed the man was under investigation by prosecutors.
The officials all spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to reporters.

Giraffe kick kills woman in S. Africa
Johannesburg : South Africa’s press agency says a giraffe has kicked a woman to death at a game farm in northeastern South Africa.
The South African Press Agency said on Monday that the woman took a walk with her two dogs on the game farm in Limpopo province on Saturday morning.
The agency, citing South Africa’s Beeld newspaper, says one of the dogs ran towards a herd of giraffe, scaring them. The newspaper says the 25-year-old woman tried to protect the dog, prompting a giraffe to kick her in the neck, killing her.
Giraffes are found in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, which covers part of Limpopo province. —AP

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
