Egypt protesters launch newspaper
Cairo, Feb. 5: Egyptian activists protesting against the government of the President, Mr Hosni Mubarak, have launched their own newspaper to disseminate information about their ongoing revolt.
The newspaper is just a single sheet and is called Maidan Tahrir, said Mr Raed Jaber, the editor of Anbaa Mosku, the Arabic-language version of the Moscow News.
He added that the Opposition is also trying to set up a radio station. Hundreds of thousands of protesters gathered on Friday at Tahrir Square, demanding Mr Mubarak’s resignation on what they dubbed the ‘Day of Departure’.
The 82-year-old President, who ruled the country for three decades, said he was worried that his departure would plunge the country into chaos.
Demonstrators, who have been protesting since January 25, have set up a field hospital and spend the nights in tents. Volunteers bring in food and water and special brigades clean up the rubbish.
