Essay competition on relevance of Bapu in Australia
In an effort to promote Indian culture and history in Australia, university students here are being encouraged to take part in an essay competition on the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi.
Any local university student, aged between 16 to 30 years, can participate in the competition being organised by Australia-based Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
The participants are expected to write on the topic of the “Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday in the context of Social Responsibility or World Peace or Environment”.
According to a statement, the winner will be awarded a free trip to India.
The idea of launching the competition is to promote the Indian culture and history Down Under, the statement said.
Since its inception in 2003 the Bhavan Australia has undertaken a large number of activities related to Indian culture and promoting multiculturalism in Australia including annual events are Holi mahotsav, cricket masala and annual interfaith prayer meeting.
