Facelift goes awry, woman wins £15,000
London, Dec. 29: A woman whose face was left looking like a “chipmunk” following a botched facelift was compensated with £15,000 in a settlement reached out of court, a media report said.
“Oh my God!” was the reaction of the nurse who removed the bandages from her face after the surgery, Ms Denise Maitland, the victim, was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Ms Maitland, 65, was inspired to go for a facelift watching television shows like 10 Years Younger and Cosmetic Surgery Live. Ms Maitland, who lives in Gower, South Wales, thought the surgery was risk-free but she suffered bleeding and complications after the process. She hides the scars with heavy make-up. The retired office administrator said she regretted her decision now. She warned other women against going for plastic surgery.
