Gas outburst in plastic plant kills 5 in China
At least five people were killed after a gas outburst in a plastic industrial unit in China's Shandong Province. The accident took place on Wednesday night when workers were filling production facilities with nitrogen during maintenance work, said an officer with the SINOPEC Qilu Company Ltd., which owns the plant. According to the company, a pipe became dislodged and gas suddenly burst out, killing two people at the site. Three others died later in the hospital. One worker was injured. An initial investigation found bad work practices were to blame for the accident, Xinhua news agency reported.
