German record as red card shown after 43 secs
Midfielder Marcel Titsch-Rivero managed to stay on the field for just 43 seconds for relegated Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday to set a new Bundesliga record for the shortest time on the pitch.
The 21-year-old had an afternoon to forget as he swiftly returned to the bench after being shown a straight red card in his side's 3-1 defeat at new German champions Borussia Dortmund, less than a minute after coming on.
To make matters worse, it was his only Bundesliga appearance of the season on the last day of the German league campaign and his side's defeat left them 17th in the table and confirmed their relegation.
His 79th-minute dismissal for a foul on Dortmund's Germany defender Marcel Schmelzer capped a disasterous afternoon and leaves Titsch-Rivero with one of the league's most unenviable records.
His 43 seconds beats the previous record of 93 seconds set by Cologne's Youssef Mohamad who was shown a red card on the first day of the season at the start of his team's 3-1 defeat at Kaiserslautern.
