Grad rocket hits Jordan's Aqaba port, four hurt: minister
A Grad-type rocket smashed into a street in the Jordanian port of Aqaba on Monday, injuring four people, one seriously, the interior minister said.
Two cars were wrecked in the blast, which occurred near the Intercontinental hotel, interior minister Nayef Qadai told AFP.
“A Grad rocket fell in the street in Aqaba, near to the Intercontinental hotel, destroying two cars and injuring four people, one of them seriously,” Qadai said, adding that he had no further immediate information.
Information minister Ali Ayed told AFP the rocket fell at around 7.45 am.
“Preliminary investigation showed that the rocket was fired from outside Jordanian territory. The injured are four Jordanian men,” Ayed told AFP.
Israel’s army radio earlier on Monday said five rockets slammed into the Israeli port of Eilat, less than 10 kilometres (six miles) from Aqaba, causing no casualties.
