Grenada teacher charged in young woman's slaying
A schoolteacher in Grenada has been charged with murder in the slaying of a young woman whose dismembered remains were discovered in a trash bin.
Police did not disclose what evidence led them yesterday to arrest 23-year-old John Redhead, who teaches 5th grade at an Adventist primary school. Investigators say then found a weapon and personal belongings of 19-year-old victim Akera Lalgie scattered in a secluded area of the capital of St George's.
An autopsy has found that the young woman died of hypovolemic shock, or low blood volume. It also found she had been strangled.
Redhead is due to make his initial court appearance on Monday in St George's. It is not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
