Group of parents take teachers hostage in France
A group of parents have taken teachers hostage in the French town of Berre l’Etang, south of the country.
Police visited the scene on Wednesday but have refused to intervene.
The parents were demanding the dismissal of a teacher and have slammed the school officials for their 'children falling behind'.
"We are very worried that the pupils are falling behind in school. We think our children are in danger. That’s why we have decided to hold the headmistress and a couple of teachers hostage. We want things to change," said Christophe Planes, one of the parents, quoted by the Frech daily Le Figaro in a report.
The parents added that they were aware of the legal implications but were willing to 'risk it'.
