Harendra Mangrola elected President of IADO
Eminent Indian-American businessman Harendra Mangrola has been elected president of a key organisation which encourages the community to participate in the political process in the US.
Mr Mangrola won over 65 per cent votes to become the president of Indo-American Democratic Organisation (IADO).
He was earlier reluctant to join the organisation, but IADO members insisted that his presence was necessary at the helm of the organisation especially when Chicago is slated to elect its new Mayor and the 2012 Presidential elections being round the corner, according to local community newspaper, India Tribune.
Mr Mangrola has succeeded Dr Ram Gajjela, who is now appointed as the executive director of IADO.
Mr Mangrola is also involved with other organisations like Swadhyay, Manav Seva Mandir and federation of indian associations.
He is a civil engineer and has done a master's degree in business administration, and bagged quite a few professional awards.
